The Institute of integrative medicine and reserve human resources was created as a vital necessity. With every coil of its development and new discoveries modern science proceeds along the way of ignorance expansion increasing the gap between a scanty cognition of the world and the infinity of the unknown.
One of the axioms suggested by the ancient agnostics sounds as follows: "The more we know, the more we do not know ".
Not only new information and new research targets which on a definite stage the science is not able to solve become the results of cognition process.
The crisis of modern medical science is just a part of universal crisis of the III millennium. Numerous wars, devastations and death pursue humanity from the moment of its birth. Appearance of new diseases previously unknown to the medical science goes in parallel with discoveries in molecular biology, genetic engineering, human genome decoding.
Medicine achieved great and sometimes fantastic success but still it experiences acute crisis related with narrow specialization and correspondingly incapability of such specialization. More than 10 thousand syndromes and nosological forms are currently known. The diseases are diagnosed and cured by representatives of more than 300 medical professions.
Narrow specialization of doctors is a natural, inevitable and expedient.
At the present stage of development of medical science there can not be a doctor capable to render qualified help simultaneously as a gynecologist, ophthalmologist, surgeon and neuropathologist.
Progressive doctors` specialization per se has lead to inevitable narrowing of medical thought.
Local approach to a disease sometimes does not consider connection of any organ disease with the general condition of the organism and as a result the diseased person becomes in turn a patient of doctors of different specialization each of them curing their own disease while the patient has only one.
Hippocrates the father of the modern medicine viewed human organism as a united, integral and harmonious system capable to self-regulation in health and in disease. In compliance with this concept he considered that the whole organism should be cured - body and soul assisting in general the self-regulation of the organism in fighting the disease. Medicus curat, natura sanat (medicine cures, nature heals).
Dozens of diseases that a person suffers in course of life is a single disease of a single organism.
The general medical postulate "treatment should be individual, etiopathogenetic" (i.e. pointed to the reason and mechanism of the disease but not to the consequence) is not observed because "narrow" professions dismantled a human into small constituent parts (ears, eyes, heart, lungs, kidneys etc.) and there is no specialist to pull these parts together into a human without forgetting the "soul". (No forest is seen behind the trees.)
It should be stressed that during the last 100-50 years the environment has drastically changed and to a large extent people die of diseases which derive from irregular way of living, hypodynamia, ecological disbalance, psychical traumas.
In other words diseases and death are caused not by infections but disadaptation - weak adjustment to ever complicating living conditions.
A human being an essential part of the nature is in fact separated from her. Artificial infrastructure of living came into being: artificial lighting, central heating, refined food, lifts, synthetic clothes. Human works when in compliance with solar and lunar rhythms he should have a rest or sleep.
Human moves little although he is natural programmed to procure living "at all his might".
At the same time psychic overloads turned into everyday reality and stress accumulates on stress giving no time for recovery. Problems and conflicts with oneself, friends and everyday life still increase, their solution grows more complicated.
At the same time doctors while skillfully diagnosing a disease of a separate organ roughly neglect the condition of organism as a whole and the psychic condition of a person, which is the main reason for diseases whereas the disease is a pathology of the whole organism.
Current European methods of medication treatment existing in modern world brought unexpected complications and problems unknown to the ancient doctors. Mass application of anti-bacterial and other medications drastically decreased the immunity of people. There are complications on the psychological level as well related with quick effect of the modern chemical medications. Such medical specialization is developing and strengthening that leads to the loss of moral and professional guiding line.
Most people will agree that traditional European curative medicine is concerned with our diseases but not with human health. Narrow effect of medications produced artificially by way of chemical synthesis, their side-influence on various physiological processes, growing number of somatic, psychic and mental diseases including fatally dangerous ones (mass allergy to medications and chemicals used in production and in private life) compel to search for another solution. Finally people start realizing that the effect of the medications used not always assist the organism in coping with the disease but often prevent it from doing so weakening the development of natural reactions. Other organs and organic systems suffer, its functions deteriorate and it lays the basis for the future diseases.
At present there is a rejection of narrow-specialized medicine and a formation of fundamentally different medicine, which uses physiological mechanisms of the organism itself for prevention and prophylaxis of the diseases and compensation of developing disturbances. In difficult and painful process of elaborating more integral and complex approaches in scientific medicine the twenty-century experience of eastern medicine can be of an invaluable help.
In fact an interesting and creative work is offered in merging the achievements of East and West and at the same time not a crumb of useful attainments of both medicines should be missed. It is not an unsolvable problem as it may seem on the face of it because since the times of its founders Asklepius and Hippocrates until the recently started rapid development of physiology the European and Eastern medicines used quite similar conceptions and images.
The success of our modest attempt to unify the eastern ideas about organism integrity and systematic approach to it (integrative) with the advanced western medical technologies are supported by practical results.
On the basis of the accumulated thousand-year experience and medical knowledge of China, India and Tibet, converting them into modern language of neurophysiology and integrating them into the European system of medical knowledge (from homeopathy to human genome encoding)
